EDUROAM IN THE MUT NETWORK
The international initiative EDUROAM gives employees and students the opportunity to use Wi-Fi in other academic institutions by logging into the network exactly the same as in their own campus, both at home and abroad. Maps of Polish and global EDUROAM are available at www.eduroam.pl and www.eduroam.org.
Several locations in MUT allow the use of the eduroam wireless network. It is available in:
- The main building (floor 4 and Information Technology Department conference room)
- MUT club (floor 2 and 3)
Every employee and student of MUT who has a university e‑mail account can join the network using a device supporting wireless network and supporting 802.1x standards — WPA2-Enterprise.
- Name of the wifi network: eduroam
- Login — employee: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Login — student: name.surname @student.wat.edu.pl
- Password: e‑mail account password
ACCESS TO EDUROAM FOR GUESTS
If your institution is a member of the EDUROAM initiative and you have configured access to your eduroam home network, then just turn on the device in the area where the eduroam network is available. If your home network has a different identifier, please select the eduroam network from the list of available networks and configure 802.1x authentication for it in the same way as in your institution.
Joining the eduroam network gives access to the Internet, but you will not be able to use local MUT resources.
The recommended way to configure the eduroam connection is to use dedicated installers available for different systems at cat.eduroam.org. Installers and configurators are available for all universities participating in the eduroam project. They are available for most mobile systems and allow automatic WiFi connection configuration. They also contain all certificates required for transmission encryption which allow you to easily start using the eduroam network. Users of devices with the Android operating system can install a free application from the Google Play store called “eduroam CAT”, made available by the GÉANT Association, which allows you to configure the device to work with the eduroam wireless network.
Eduroam network parameters:
- Security type: 802.1x
- EAP protocol type: PEAP
